I’m Anton, the founder of Tony Craftsman.
I started Tony Craftsman in New York after several years of hands-on experience with furniture, installation and repair.
Since starting the business in New York, I’ve completed over 2,000 projects and received hundreds of five-star reviews. Most of the time, I’m still the person who shows up at your door and does the work. I also work with a small team when a project needs an extra set of hands or a specific skill.
The work itself can be very different from one day to the next. TV mounting, mirrors, shelves, curtains and blinds, furniture assembly and disassembly, wall repairs, artwork, and other interior installations are all part of what we do.
Some projects are straightforward. Others require a lot more thought.
Over the years, I’ve worked with large and fragile mirrors, antiques, original artwork, and pieces that can’t simply be replaced if something goes wrong. I also have experience handling and installing museum pieces. That kind of work taught me to slow down, understand the object and the space first, and only then decide how it should be handled or installed.
The same thinking applies to furniture. Sometimes assembling something is easy. Sometimes the real challenge is carefully taking apart a large or complicated piece, understanding how it was built, moving it without damage, and putting it back together correctly.
Working in New York also means learning not to make assumptions. Behind a wall that looks simple, you might find brick, plaster, metal, old construction, or something nobody expected. A piece of furniture may not fit through a doorway. A mirror may need a completely different mounting solution than originally planned. Sometimes the best solution becomes clear only after seeing the space in person.
That problem-solving side of the work is a big part of what I enjoy.
I’ve worked with homeowners, renters, interior designers, property managers, art galleries, and independent artists. Some clients call me for a single installation. Others have been working with me for years — through moves, renovations, and new projects. Many new clients come through referrals, and that means a lot to me.
Tony Craftsman is still a small business, and I want to keep the personal side of it. I’m directly involved in the projects we take on, and in most cases, I’m the person doing the work.
Whether it’s mounting a TV, disassembling and rebuilding a piece of furniture, hanging a collection of artwork, or installing an antique mirror, I approach it the same way: understand what I’m working with, protect the space and the object, and find the right way to get it done.
